A lovely place for the washing, without hiding it away
Five reasons the Opale hand-quilted laundry basket has become one of my favourite little finds for the home, and the three sizes it comes in.
Can I ask you something? Is there a corner of your home where the washing always seems to end up?
For a lot of us, it’s the chair in the bedroom. Or a pile of towels next to the bath. The washing has to go somewhere, but the usual basket isn’t something you really want on show.
Then there’s the size. One basket is too small for the towels. The next one is too bulky for the corner.
I’m Grace. Claire and I started this boutique to share things that make everyday life feel a little nicer. That’s why I wanted to tell you about the Opale.
It’s a hand-quilted laundry basket with a happy little flock of woolly sheep on the front. It’s practical enough for every day, and pretty enough to leave out.

A basket that’s lovely enough to leave out
Most laundry baskets end up tucked behind a door. The Opale is a bit different.
The front shows a quilted meadow with woolly sheep, colourful wildflowers and little cottages on the hill. It looks more like a cheerful piece of decor than something for the washing. So you can leave it out in the bedroom or the bathroom, and it still looks lovely.
A size that suits your home
There’s always a basket that’s a bit too small or a bit too bulky for what you actually need. The Opale comes in three sizes, so you can pick the one that fits.
- Small (36 × 46 cm): nice for a cosy bathroom or the hand towels.
- Medium (41 × 56 cm): a handy everyday size for the bedroom.
- Large (51 × 71 cm): room for the family washing or bigger loads.
Easy to carry when there’s washing to do
The Opale has reinforced fabric handles on each side. Pick it up, carry the full load to the washing machine, and you’re done.
It’s the same when the clean washing goes back to the bedroom. No juggling armfuls of towels down the hall.
Little details that make it feel special
Each basket is hand-sewn, with appliqué sheep and quilted stitching across the hills and sky. The sheep have soft, textured wool and big, friendly eyes.
Because it’s sewn by hand, no two baskets are quite alike. It’s soft to the touch, and made for everyday use.
One less untidy corner to think about
The Opale isn’t only for the washing. It’s handy for bathroom towels, spare blankets beside the sofa, or the little things in a nursery.
Wherever it goes, things have a home. The corner looks tidy instead of cluttered. And it makes a lovely gift for a friend who takes pride in her home, too.
